In 2013 – in May alone – there were 267 tornadoes across 25 states, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In all, there were seven weather and climate disaster events in the U.S. in 2013 resulting in 109 deaths and losses of more than $1 billion per event. It’s critical that businesses are prepared for severe weather emergencies.

OSHA and NOAA encourage employers to create an emergency plan, train workers on these plans, stay aware of weather forecasts and keep emergency supplies at the ready. Below is a list of some of the basics every business should have in their severe weather emergency kit.
